If you have had any blood tests or X-rays etc. we would be grateful if you could wait until the afternoon to telephone us for the results. The doctors receive large numbers of results every morning and they need time to check them before they can be filed into your notes
Note that the practice has a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection and we will only release test results to the person to whom they relate unless that person has given prior permission for the release of this data or they are not capable of understanding the results.
When you take your test you will be told how long it will be before the results are returned to the practice. As a guide, most blood tests are available a week after the test has been taken. However, it usually takes about 14 days for any other correspondence, such as X- ray results or out-patient attendance letters to be received.
It is your responsibility to check your results and to make an appointment to discuss them with your doctor if you are advised to do so.
We ask that you phone for results of all tests after 2.00pm, this is to allow time for the GPs to look at their list of daily results & mark them with information for the receptionist to relay to you.
